MPI50: Charlotte St. Martin

Charlotte St Martin

Recognized this year as one of MPI's "50 Legacy Contributors," Charlotte St. Martin reflects on a few of her achievements with the association.

I was president of the MPI Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter and a Supplier of the Year for MPI in its very early days. Chair of the MPI Foundation. Officer of Board. Can’t remember all the details honestly as it’s been a very long time.

Probably one of the most important contributions I made was getting MPI to move from Middletown, Ohio, to the Info Mart with free rent, in Dallas. Did a lot more (and I’m hoping MPI has the records).

MPI was so important to my early career as it was an organization that didn’t discriminate against women which gave a lot of very impressive women the opportunity to show leadership and enhance their careers and education. That all helped MPI become a far stronger organization. We led the way in creating the image of meeting planners as meeting professionals and it changed the dynamic with other trade associations like ASAE, PCMA and NAEM.

I’m proud that MPI is going strong—congrats.
